Huh. I wonder if things would be easier for me if lots of other people could use magic... or worse... I mean, I would trust anyone in the village to use their gifts for good. Dunno about the world outside the valley, though.
All magic in my world requires the caster to make a sacrifice of some kind. It can be anything, and the caster doesn't choose - one person might give up a little bit of the sound they can make with each spell, but someone else might be giving up time off their whole life.
Because people have relied on it for ages and can't just stop cold turkey now. That, and unless you're the one making the sacrifices yourself, people don't really get the full weight of it.
Yeah? Well, if you figure that system out, be sure to, y'know, share. I'm so used to just... just doing what I usually can do. There's no real thought to it anymore.
One thing about getting to my age? When someone tells you to write a paper, you can just... not. Afraid you'll have to find a different example to look up to for that.
