I'm fine. [He says, immediately, even as he sees Yamato's gaze drift to the bandage.] Just a small injury that's healing. There were a lot of ghosts to deal with.

So I've heard.

[ From Kurapika, who did not get out of that unscathed whatsoever. ]

I saw Kurapika earlier, so I've been concerned. Whatever he's going through is pretty serious. I just wanted to make sure the same didn't happen to you.

[Syrlya folds his arms, leaning against the doorframe.]

He and Mórag received the worst of it. [That he knows of.] I hope Kurapika is still resting. But be assured I'm alright overall.

Morag, too?

[ Damn, he'll have to go see her, too. As for Syrlya's question: ]

He got some rest at my place, yeah. I'm not sure where he is now. Whatever happened there, though, seemed pretty rough -- but I'll believe you.

[Syrlya hums affirmatively.] I wouldn't say we expected it to be easy... but we were ill-prepared for the threat. I would advise working on your combat skills early, in case you're ever sent off on a mission.

Yeah. I've been working on it.

[ He's learned a lot from Kurapika in the actual physical combat area, and he's working on his magic as well. Still, he's probably not as prepared as he'd like to be. ]

I'm starting to see why we're facing an impending apocalypse now.

Let me know if you need a sparring partner. [He'll make the time. They should all be as prepared as possible.] I have been practicing, so I can promise not to fail quite so poorly as the last time.

[When he couldn't even teleport off the ground. It was a little embarrassing.]

A sparring partner? That sounds helpful, actually. And don't worry about last time. I got lucky.

[ He sincerely believes that, and he meets Syrlya's gaze with a grin. ]

I'm open to it. What are you trying to learn, Syrlya?

Well, initially I was working off what I already know. But the breadth of what I can do as a mage is so much greater here than in Tyria, so I have begun to try just about anything. Not curses yet, although in Tyria Necromancy and Mesmer magic do have some overlap in functionality there.

I see... Well, I guess curses and seals are easier from me since I'm from the East. Doesn't mean I'm good at everything, though...like, I'm not good at healing.

[ He sucks at it! At least, right now. Maybe he can get creative with a seal or something... ]

It really feels like I'm just casting things that I believe in. If I really want someone to be stunned, the curse will stun them, for example. It takes a lot, but I'm getting used to it.

[Syrlya nods along. That part is admittedly still strange to him, to have magic operate purely on desire and not a structured conducting of the energy.]

How do you like it? If I recall, you couldn't use magic before.

I...don't mind it, actually. It's kind of nice to be able to cast based off of desires rather than pure skill.

[ Because otherwise, he'd be. Well. Pretty fucked. ]

It's a mix of both, but the emotional part of it helps a lot. At least, in my case. Some people might feel otherwise.

[Syrlya smiles.] Well, I'm glad you're finding some enjoyment of it.
