[I'm gonna be perfectly honest, P2 never explains how the party can fight zombie DJs or whatever in the middle of a music store and not have people run away screaming about demons, but the city also isn't in an uproar about it, so!!]
I think anyone can see demons, but we don't usually go out of our way to hunt them. Most don't seem to attack ordinary people, so it's not as dangerous for the general populace as it sounds. It's also easier to negotiate with them than you'd think.
Ahahaha... Well, it only started to get this interesting a little while ago, actually. If you asked me the same question a few weeks ago, I think I would've said the same thing you did.
[Plus or minus a couple of things of course, but overall it was an ordinary world she'd been living in.]
But now I'm wondering if your version of the future's different from the one I've heard about already. Got any flying cars yet?
No flying cars. Nothing like that. If you think the cleaning robot's advanced technology, I'd say that's one of the better things we've developed in recent years. That, and computers.
[ Even if he doesn't use them nearly as much as his group members do! ]
[Dang, no flying cars!! She would've wanted to give one a spin if they existed, but alas. She hums in consideration at the rest of the information though.]
Computers, huh... I only use mine for work, so I'd rather get a Musashi Mk. 2. Oh, and a better stereo system, if those have improved too.
Probably. Stereos come with pretty deep bass adjustments now. People seem to like that.

You're a fighter, though. That's pretty cool. I guess our versions of Japan are pretty similar, minus the paranormal things you have... Do you think you can use your skills here, too?
Anyway, there's a shake of the head when he asks.]
When we first started practicing magic, I actually tried to see if I could do the same things I could back home. But since it didn't work, I'll probably have to build it up from scratch again.
I'd be glad to help! Besides, I bet there's plenty I could learn from you too. I'm sure you could come up with ideas that I wouldn't have even thought of.
[As helpful it could be to have prior experience in a field, that experience could act as restraints if she relied on it too much.]
[Okay but if the curses are extremely stupid... fingerguns]
I think that's something to be glad about, honestly. I've gotten used to it by now, but I was pretty surprised when I had my first run-in with a demon! I was also lucky that one of my friends was with me at the time and recognized what we were looking at.
I can imagine, especially if your life was ordinary up until that point. All of this has been a lot to take in as is, so I guess it's the closest thing I have to what you went through back then.
[ ... ]
If this is too much to ask, feel free to decline to answer. I'm just curious if you miss the life you used to have.
[That's an interesting question, really. She takes a minute to consider the question, because it's not something that can be expressed as a simple yes or no.]
Well, it's not like I had stopped living the life I had before. I still went into the office, did my errands... at least, up until I arrived here.
But if I had to pick an answer, I'd say no. A lot has happened since then... Even if not all of it has been good, I wouldn't trade those memories for the world.
[ He can respect that. He feels similarly, actually -- his life after becoming an idol...well, he should probably just say it, shouldn't he. ]
I get it. A lot of things that've happened since becoming an idol have been stressful, and at times, almost incomprehensible. Almost like it's a life I didn't think I'd ever lead, but I wouldn't trade those memories for anything, either.
[ Even if he probably should. ]
And now, we're here. I don't think I'd trade the memories I've made here for anything, either. Would you?
[She might not know exactly what sorts of experiences Yamato has gone through as part of the idol business, but it still makes sense--there's always going to be parts that someone finds overwhelming or difficult. Given that, she can also see the parallel with their current situation.]
Well, I wouldn't be able to say I met an idol if I did, would I?
[Even if it wasn't ideal that she ended up here in the first place, the company is something she can certainly appreciate.]
[What is CR-building but unknowingly stepping all over these landmines you weren't expecting!!
The official answer is, of course, as neutral as neutral goes. However, the additional honesty at the end does get her to blink, and it takes a second for it to click.]
...Wait, revenge? Was there something you wanted to prove...?
[Her first guess is it's about having a chip on his shoulder or something similar, but it's clear she's still trying to figure out what connects the idol gig with the concept of revenge.]

What do you mean by "demons"? Literal ones, or...?
no subject
You asked about the guns earlier, right? That's why. I didn't really mean to hide it, but most people back home don't know that demons actually exist.

[ Maya is so badass hello?? ]

Then we're on the same page. I think you'll do well, maybe better than you'll realize.
[ Especially since she has, from what he can see, a lot of conviction and determination. ]
I might even ask you to help me out here and there. What do you say to that?

You've been through a lot in the combat department, haven't you? Haha, my life wasn't that eventful.

[ Of course, she's more than just a journalist in his eyes, but he's not wrong, either. ]

[But honestly, she's just been enjoying the chat as is, so she's half-joking here.]

[ ... ]
Just don't ask about my family. That one's a secret~.
[ He's half joking. If she wants to know...he'll consider it. ]
no subject
[She can't deny she'd be interested to hear about his family, but it does also seem like it could be rather personal for a first question, anyway.]
Alright, then how about this one: what made you decide to become an idol?
no subject
I can give you the answer for the press: I got scouted and thought it'd be interesting to try it.
[ He pauses, considers something. ]
The real answer isn't that, though. It was revenge.
