[ And Day will take a seat, because he's going to be here for a while, he figures. ]
So, uh, I have an issue that ain't a problem now, but is prob'ly gonna be a problem whenever this situation gets resolved and people go back home, or wherever else. Long story short...normally most people can't remember me. Like, if I'm right in front of them and they have to acknowledge me, it's fine, but as soon as I'm out of their presence, they'll forget.
It works like that 'cause, in the simplest terms, I'm tied to a constellation, and that constellation is broken. [ Don't ask him to explain how that works. ] And where I'm from, fate is also tied to the stars. That broken constellation hides my fate from the rest of the world, which is why I can't stick in people's memories. It ain't a problem here, prob'ly 'cause the stars here are different but... I ain't sure if the same can be said when I leave.
Yeah. This is...well, think of it this way, it's been like this for over a millennium for a bunch of people like me, and the best we've come up with is a workaround. No one's been able to figure out how to fix it, and this is more or less uncharted territory for me.
[ Read: He knows any solution to this is going to involve bs'ing their way to one. ]
Since I really doubt we can fix the underlyin' problem, Tatara suggested that maybe we could figure out a way to make sure I keep a tie to this world. Like an anchor, I guess? So that even if leave, I'm still connected to everyone who's been a part of this world, however short the stay was.
Written records of me tend to, uh. Not survive unscathed, so it needs to be something more...intangible, but meaningful, I think. Like memories, maybe.
[Preserving something intangible in a way that it cannot be destroyed or altered... By their nature, memories are not fallible things. They can shift and change and fade with distance from the events you remember, but at the same time...
They can be passed along.]
When I had to learn how to transfer the memories of the Warrior of Light's companions, we used a substance known as auracite. Luckily, it's a substance one can manufacture, and after imbuing the auracite with my blood it became something one could transfer their memories to, but to put it into something more metaphysical and ephemeral...
[His head cocks to the side.]
Do you need just one copy of memories of you, or do you need several?
[Little Day Lockets or something to hand out to the class...]
I feel like trying to make several would be a little impractical. [ Over 20 wizards here... ] So I think the ideal would be one copy that stays here, in this world. Anything extra would just be insurance, I guess?

[It's a tragic state of being, isn't it? To always be forgotten...]
That's why you're here, yes? Because of what I said my blood could do.
[He wants to double check he's on the same page before he gets away from himself brainstorming solutions to a problem he only half-knows.]
