( This is so weird for Mika because he doesn't really do wellness checks, but... he's doing his rounds this night (a few nights after the Granvelle Ghost incident), and he stops to linger in front of Jing Yuan's door. He can hear him inside, so after a few moments of pause, he'll just... knock once. If no response maybe he can just skedaddle— )

( An unexpected sight - the finches in the periphery - as he turns his gaze up to Jing Yuan. A beat, before he finds his words: )

... The ghost thing got you pretty bad.

( Is he asking if Jing Yuan is okay after all that? No he's not. Obviously. However, )

( While he isn't sure he fully believes that it wasn't as bad as it looked, Mika doesn't seem keen to argue it, exactly - especially since Jing Yuan shifts the topic. )

... Yeah, might as well.

( He feels a little awkward being invited in (he doesn't usually go into people's rooms, barring the one), but he'll step in - he's like to take a spot by the wall if not directed to a seat, but he would sit if indicated. Mika is a simple creature. )

I spoke to Ahito, too. It didn't tell him anything interesting, so... All I know is what it told me.

( As much as he wishes he could say he caught every piece of lore the ghost was shouting in every thread at every person, there was so much chaos and blood that Mika couldn't catch everything. It was an overwhelming amount of stimulation. )

... For one thing, it sounded like it was a wizard when it was alive. It sounded like it couldn't move on because it'd made a promise to another wizard, and it had to keep fulfilling that promise.

( However: )

... But it might instead be that, so long as it persisted as a spectre, it was bound to carry out its promise. It wasn't clear about the exact specifics, but...

( Basically, he doesn't want to inject too many of his assumptions into his interpretation when the verbiage itself was slightly ambiguous. The first outcome was pretty alarming - it meant a wizard who meant a promise would be forced to ghoulishly persist in order to carry it out. But was that likely...?

It's hard to say, really. Maybe it was worth finding actual wizards from this world to talk to... )
