[ Anything but the pillow fort...

Kurapika settles onto the bed, letting out a sigh as his back hits the mattress. ]

I touched a cursed object. [ His head swivels to where he thinks Khun is, and he opens his eyes—a bright scarlet across the entirety of his eyes, even the whites—in a mock glare. ] You don't need to tell me it was a stupid decision. I'm well aware.

[ Anyway. ]

When I touched it, I felt a pain travel throughout my entire body, and then it felt as if something in me broke. I couldn't tell you exactly what it was, just that it happened at all.

[ khun chuckles at the display, it breaking the seriousness in his demeanor. if kurapika feels well enough to poke at him he's probably not dying. those eyes really do remind him of some of the color traits the Ten Families possess too. ]

I could just tell you it was a dumb one instead~. [ synonyms are everyone's friend. ]

Something important to you, is my guess. But I'm assuming you'd notice if you no longer had the hunger for revenge or felt differently about your family.

[ If he could see right now, Khun would absolutely be getting a smack to his arm, but as it is, Kurapika doesn't move. ]

I would. [ He sighs. ] I think that's what bothers me the most. Nothing is missing... I've felt normal after that initial feeling.

[ Surely Khun would understand why that's the most unsettling part of this. ]

[ he had originally thought the eye thing was because of their natural ability, not anything the curse had brought on. hmmmm. ]

Aside from that fainting spell. [ that's not normal. ] How well can you see right now?

[ he's guessing not much, but better to ask. ]

[revengier]

[ His head turns in the direction of Khun's voice. It's hard to discern where he's looking exactly, given that the whole of his eyes are red, but it's obvious even now that he isn't looking directly at Khun. ]

Nothing at all.

[lighthaus]

That's a problem too, but at least it's one that has practical solutions.

[ poking his cheek, sorry not sorry. ]

Does Tatara know yet?

[revengier]

[ How dare!! His face scrunches up, nose and all, but he doesn't bother to try and bat at wherever Khun's hand might be now. ]

Not yet. I plan on telling him once I've rested up more. [ ... ] I'd also like to report all of my symptoms as well as I can. I'd rather not send him on some wild goose chase.

[lighthaus]

Good.

[ that makes sense enough to khun, so he approves. also the cheek poking was satisfying. ]

It's likely you'll only find out some later, but it's a start. But you should take some time to rest for a bit either way.

[ ..normally he'd offer kurapika a book or two but. yeah. ]

Mm, I will.

[ He sighs, shifting around and turning on his side so he's at least facing Khun, though he can't see him. ]

I'm not sure what Tatara can do himself since he lacks magic, but he might have a book or two with some answers.

[ There was a sizable stack in his room when Kurapika visited, so he assumes there's something good in there. ]

[lighthaus]

[ khun nods before realizing that's a bit pointless right now. ]

He'll want to help and even if there's nothing in his records, it'll be good to keep track of for the future. I doubt you'll be the only one who suffers an injury like this.

[revengier]

[ Kurapika frowns, but not at the thought of Tatara helping him. That he'd help is a given—he's not a bad guy, after all. ]

I doubt it too, but I'd like to prevent as many injuries as this as possible.

[lighthaus]

When you're settled it might be worth doing a bit of a PSA. South did one after they came back, and it sounds like you guys had more of a run in than they did. It'll be useful for whoever goes next.

[ hmm. if things keep getting worse, what'll the next group come back like?

longing gaze at east. ]

[ stares right at east ]

I'll consider it.

[ And he ultimately won't, since Tatara later tells him that he should keep it under wraps for the most part. ]

If anything, it would be beneficial for everyone to know how difficult our opponents were. We were unprepared. [ He sighs. ] So, practice your magic as much as possible.

[lighthaus]

[ kurapika can't see his expression but he can certainly hear it. ]

Isn't that obvious? [ what else is everyone doing with their time, says boy who cannot sit still. ]

[ That... actually makes him laugh. ]

You know very well that not everyone is like us. They don't practice all day and night.

[lighthaus]

Obviously. Which is what I said.

[ the laughter eases up his impending grumpiness though, so he tries to let the irritation pass him. ]

Or they could be training their bodies. It doesn't sound like Kiryu did terribly and I think he's more liking to throw a punch than a spell when it comes down to it.

[ The grumpiness in Khun's voice is more amusing than anything... wow, is this why people egg Kurapika on? Much to think about. ]

He used other objects more than he used his own magic, that's right.

[ They're on the same track, however, because he adds: ]

Ideally, all of us would be combat trained in addition to magic. [ ... ] Though I doubt either of us will take up the mantle of training.

[lighthaus]

[ wow! them and their hats are real though. ]

Someone would have to go through the trouble of building likeability and trust with everyone in order for it to work, at least with this group. That's not my style, and I don't think most people will forget I almost loped off Mikaela's head, even if I felt like faking it for however long that took.

[ that makes him wonder though. ]

...is there anyone here who's universally liked?

Probably. There has to be one or two.

[ But even the people he likes may not be liked by everyone, so it's... difficult to name anyone. ]

[lighthaus]

I can think of a few candidates, but they're not really people-people either, at least in that sense—Kiryu's a good example. Jing Yuan also seems to be reasonably liked, but he likes to wax poetic too much.

[ his standards, always. ]

He waxes poetic? In my experience he mostly yawns.

[ He frowns, eyebrows furrowing. ]

I've taught Yamato one-on-one, and I've taught other classes before. I wouldn't mind if there really are no other options.

[lighthaus]

[ pffft. he doesn't laugh but he's thoroughly amused. ]

You changed your mind quickly. But I think you'd do a good job.

[ A free compliment!!! ]

Someone has to do it.

[ Hmph!! And he just so happens to like a lot of the people here, so... it really wouldn't be an issue. ]

You could stand to sound less amused.

[lighthaus]

No, I think this is just the right amount. Does it help to know I'll cheer you on with my whole heart?
