Shopping in Western Country. [ well, it's a bit more than that but it's kind of a surprise. ]

You're buying him gifts to go shopping... couldn't you get sunglasses like that during your trip?

There's something else to it but I'm not telling. [ heheh. ]

Why'd you ask? Looking for date ideas?

...I wouldn't mind suggestions, if you happen to have them. I've only been on a few dates, and only with Akira.

[ In other words, he lacks experience. ]

[ he will toss a few things momentarily but- ]

You know I haven't dated before either, right?

[ ... ]

What?

Is that so surprising?

[ Sorry, Khun??? ]

You're rather forward, even when you're playing around. To think you wouldn't be even more so when you found someone you were interested in would be foolish... and I doubt that Tatara was the first person you ever liked.

[ looks at their threads and gazes. it's slightly more complicated than that but kurapika is basically right anyway so he doesn't try to argue that point. ]

He wasn't. [ in an uncharacteristic gesture he tucks a strand of hair behind his ear for want of some kind of movement. ]

Baam never noticed and I was fine with that.

[ baam might actually be blind, but khun has the patience of a saint somehow? ]

[ Kurapika crosses his arms. ]

...How could he not have noticed? You're obvious.

[ But he gets it, honestly. Some people are oblivious, especially when it comes to the way people feel about them in particular—Kurapika is like that too. ]

Sometimes it's better to leave things as they are, so I can't fault you with being fine with that either.

[ he suffers in canon so much. ]

Honestly I was half expecting Tatara not to notice either. [ but his boyfriend's actually really intuitive and also you know, not blind.

khun waves a hand. ]

Baam had Rachel too, and I was content with just doing whatever I could to make him happy.

That's...

[ Depressing.

But Kurapika bites back that last word, simply because he likes Khun enough to hold his tongue. ]

Lucky for you, Tatara did notice. I think that he did works out better for you in the end.

...yeah, I think so too.

[ his smile is soft and genuine, warm despite everything else he is. tatara really might be on to something in that he has fire inside of all this ice. ]

Anyway, just go with things you like or want and don't think so hard about it.

[ he knows this might be a challenge for kurapika but it's his honest advice. ]

We went to an oasis just to find guava cut the exact way Tatara wanted.

You say that like it's easy.

[ Come on, Khun, you know his overthinking ways! Not to mention that Akira would never let him go so far out of his way just to find fruit that he likes...

But, more importantly: ]

He's really changed you.

[ It's evident in the thoughtfulness of his tone, however, that he doesn't mean in a bad way. ]

It is.

[ he also overthinks!!! but if it's something they both want what is their to overthink about? (overthink instead if you worry about the other person not wanting it but shhh).

khun thinks on that for a moment though. ]

I don't think so, at least not in the way you think. I've always been this way, but there's never been the opportunity for me to really act on it.

[ and then he grins because some things really don't change. ]

You know I'd kill everyone in this world for him, right?

[ it's a question but not really. he's still plenty sharp, and fortunately(?) tatara likes that too. and not to discredit everything his boyfriend has done for him because it's been a whole lot, but the truest thing they've given each other is probably the license and the experience to wholeheartedly be themselves with someone else and more than that, for the other person to actually enjoy it. ]

You wouldn't be you if you wouldn't go that far.

[ And so, he isn't surprised that Khun asks—or states, more like—that for Kurapika. Above all else, Khun holds an intensity within him despite his calm demeanor, and naturally that intesnsity would be used to help Tatara as well. ]

And you know I would kill you before I let you kill Akira.

[ But that's how it is between he and Khun, isn't it? The understanding that they could easily oppose one another that allows for the trust between them to foster and develop, and their friendship to grow. ]

You could try. [ it'd be a challenge if not for the way khun shrugs after because he's both not someone to move without reason (even if no one else understands that reason) and also because his boyfriend doesn't want him to off any of the wizards here. ]

But as long as you haven't forgotten. [ a slight tilt of his head. ] What makes you think I've changed then?

[ He simply shrugs—getting into the nitty gritty of who might win in a fight between the two of them isn't something he'd like to entertain. At least, not until the reality is right in front of him. ]

You're invested in what happens here beyond doing what we need to so we can return to our worlds.

[ that's not wrong, but- ]

I want to make Tatara happy. I haven't suddenly grown a heart. [ he's always had one! it's just extremely selective. ]

Then let me amend... it's interesting to see that side of you.

[ To... see Khun's heart, he supposes. ]

[ he doesn't refute that and even inclines his head a little, so kurapika will just need to accept that as his agreement. ]

Uh-huh. Talking like this is bad for my heart, actually. [ he's not allergic but it's weird? it's weird. ]

Anyway, are you going to get something for Akira or not?

[ He quirks an eyebrow. Bad for his heart, or just embarrassing? It almost wants to make Kurapika press it further, but he bestows kindness upon Khun and decides not to. ]

Hmm... I think I'd rather get him something different.

[ Kurapika inclines his head towards the window, where across the street a line is forming outside of a newly opened bakery. ]

Such as taking him there, for example. I hadn't realized there was a new business opening.

[ khun nods and pays for the two sunglasses, giving kurapika his pair after. ]

See? I told you it wasn't that hard.

[ He rolls his eyes, but utters a small "thanks" when Khun hands him the sunglasses. ]

It's more like Akira is easy, above anything else.
