[ He's grateful for the understanding, and he closes his eyes and readies himself for something offensive. His specialty is curses, but he's not quite there with those yet, so he ends up sending a little ball of darkness Urainger's way. ]
[Seeing the dark orb come to life makes Urianger crack another smile. Small though it may be, it's progress from where Yamato started all the same.
As it makes its way toward him, he raises his star globe high and announces:]
Divinatio.
[A small barrier flickers into existence, just big enough to absorb the attack and shield Urianger from harm.]
As thou canst see, this barrier is quite small and only blocketh incoming damage from one direction. But it can be expanded over time and with enough training.
[Not even Urianger is capable of it yet, so they can work on it together!]
Barriers are a part of my repertoire in my home world. In my instance, I drew upon my experience to craft a similar spell with this world's magick. This experience I would be happy to impart unto thee.
[Which he will do!! Only he's going to do it in brackets because imagine me knowing how to explain magic. It just works.
Basically, he'll have Yamato try to imagine his magical energy hardening into a shield, but with more flexibility for positioning.]
Well. It hits the shield, and the shield crumbles upon impact (8), but it does absorb most of the blow. Yamato is still thrown back from the impact, though. ]
[Ope, there he goes... But Urianger doesn't seem as concerned as he could be over this. He's come to know these barriers well, so he can tell that Yamato hasn't taken a large amount of damage.
Still, he steps over to lend Yamato hand and get him back up on his feet.]
Perhaps. But 'twas a valiant first attempt. Thy barrier held up well for a first construct.
[Even if it didn't hold through the entire onslaught, it still mitigated it. Soon enough Yamato will be making fully solid barriers, so long as he keeps it up!
That said...]
If thou art certain thou art well enough to continue, then I shall gladly send more magick thy way.
[Yamato doesn't really seem tired out yet, so Urianger isn't concerned about continuing.]

[ Wait, that's actually so cool, though? And it seems helpful. It might be small, but it's a good start. ]
How did you do that? It seemed pretty effective, even if it only absorbed one hit.

[ He'll follow Urianger's thorough instructions, and hold his palm out: ]
Good night.
[ Lo and behold, there it is! A little shield. It's a small one, but hey, it's a start! ]
Like that?
no subject
Aye, just so. Well done, Yamato. [He gestures to bring his star globe in front of him.] Shall we test its durability?
no subject
[ He'll try to maintain the shield in the meantime! Here's hoping it doesn't crumble too quickly. ]
no subject
Very well. Prepare thyself.
[With that, Urianger casts his star globe forward and releases a similar orb of darkness Yamato's way, as if he were casting Malefic back home.]

That probably could've gone better.

[ He'll take Urianger's hand and hoist himself back up. Look at him! ]
Heh, that's better than nothing, then. It's a good start...if you wanted to try it again.
