[There's some tapping on Comet's window... it's Ithaqua, perched on the exterior windowsill and tapping on the glass with his claws. Let him in, lil buddy.]
Good news is Comet does not possess such normal people reservations about why is Ithaqua outside their 5th floor room window. Honestly, it's kind of impressive.
They'll unlatch the window to let him in, and don't mind the underseaambiance done with the (lack of) lighting and decor. There's enough room for Ithaqua! ]
Heheh! However did you guess? [Bit of a rhetorical question, that. He can imagine that Comet just infers it to be so.
He climbs in through the window now that he's been invited, and tugs off his stilts so he doesn't poke holes into Comet's flooring. Or the... endearing decor. That he sits himself on, if there's any on the floor.]
[ There are many cushions he can enjoy, Comet wanted a cozy room! Stack 'em up if needed for extra comfort. Comet likes sitting on the floor too, so they can sit with him, hugging another cushion. ]
Indeed. I believe that the reason why they want to keep others from sensing magical signatures coming from the castle is due to the fact that they're hiding two wizards in the castle. One being the prince, and the other being Oz, he who left lasting scars on the land.
I don't believe they're doing so out of benevolence, however. [If they did, they would have been very open about Oz's presence.]
The Southern Wizards have returned but are in a coma according to Day. I wonder if it's the same for the prince and Oz.
[ Comet settles their chin on the pillow. ]
The opinions of wizards vary by country, so I was just happy Central doesn't mind the manor being around. But something powerful causes anxiety. Like wizards.
I wonder what the prince is like. Born to regular humans of status.
I wouldn't really know how the others might react to hearing that, so I get it.
[ There have been a nonzero amount of incidents in the manor. For various reasons, but it's a little unpredictable. ]
You trust me... Because I'm not fully human, right?
[ They just want to be sure! And that Ithaqua knows because he might have the impression Comet is completely non-human, which sadly isn't true. Nor would they want it to be when they dislike most moon people, save for a few and their mom. But they do have emoathy for any other being that isn't human. It's a weird situation. ]
If that were my primary criterion, then I would have told everyone in the manor.
[He does trust Comet because they were not human before coming here, yes. And "half-human" can only be stretched too far until... a human takes offense to someone only being half of their kind.]
No, I trust you with this matter because you've a steady personality, and have no predisposition to acting rashly.
[ Oh, that's valid, if one splits hairs about what a wizard is. They might as well not be them, and were human or other before until they came here. It's just a title to Comet. One with nice perks such as a kind of magic they couldn't do before.
But Comet is quiet before nodding. ]
...Thank you.
[ Their smile is warm. ]
Whether it's with the Moon Residents or just humans... I end up going unnoticed. That's fine.
[Ithaqua starts to fluff up the pillow again, just so Comet won't be left with something uneven and lumpy when the visit is over.
Still, he tilts his head at Comet.]
Likely because you're quiet as a mouse during the day. [And just as small--] Not to claim that as a terrible thing. You merely haven't any interest in attention.
[For once, Ithaqua has knocked on a door... but disappears immediately, leaving behind a hint of his magical signature and a small paper bag with eight buns of freshly baked sourdough, each one slightly smaller than a fist, perfectly bite-sized. There's also fruit jam inside, nice and sweet, and with not a lot of that overly processed sugar Ithaqua dislikes either. How did he get it in there? Magic, of course. What flavors are there? Strawberry, blueberry, peach, lemon marmalade, and orange marmalade.

In any case, I've news to share.

Oh?
no subject
[Taking his cue from Comet, he grabs a cushion to put his hands on.]
You are aware of the strange request from the castle, yes? Their desire for a barrier that masks magical signatures from outsiders?
no subject
[ They lean forward towards Ithaqua, eyes glittering with curiosity. ]
Is there more to it? It's a bit odd, you're right.
[ Why hide something like that? ]

He places the cushion on his lap and starts to knead it with his fists.]
It's a puzzle to be pieced together slowly... But one I thought I needed to share to some people who wouldn't go gossiping to just about anyone.

I don't. It's not a contest I'd be interested in, but I'd have stiif competition in getting attention, too.
[ quietly, they add. ]
A mouse, huh...

after easties come back!!
So now he’s here, 90% recovered from physical ailments (mental ones still pending), and knocking on the door. ]

They also probably needed to recover from being chewed on? Rest and hearty food... ]
You wanted to learn some healing, right? I kind of remember that.
no subject
[ He glances at Comet, unsure of how to start. ]
I don't want to be helpless when there's time now to learn.
no subject
But can you teach me something in exchange? Like curses!
[ Comet,,,]

[ Curses,,, ]
I don’t know if this counts as a curse, but I can teach you to… suggest… things to people.

Greeny.
