Hmm.

[ is the breath of ruin, the wings of despair really the being that should be calling anyone out on any amount of heartlessness? of course not. in fact...

he tilts his head, a mild, bland smile his expression. ]

... Some of our number might respect you more if you explained this to them, I think. Seeking to establish us as a group only makes sense, and your explained criterion for sorting through the requests you receive is sound enough. Though I imagine that respect isn't necessarily something you're looking for first and foremost, I will still point that out.

[ is that approval? perish the thought. he looks over the magpie's nest once more before folding his arms over his front, letting his weight settle some. ]

In any case, I thought I might as well inform you: there's an ... impact crater, I would say, in a remote area of the North that bears a magical signature not terribly unlike the site of our cleanup in the East. There's no sign of what made it anymore; even when I first found it, anything that might have been there seems to have already been moved several weeks prior, judging by the relatively fresh snow I found there compared to in its surroundings. Ithaqua and I haven't seen signs of recent movement since, but...

[ a shrug. there's other parts of tatara's explanation he might want to touch on in a moment, but it can wait. ]

Do with that information as you will.

[ yeah, that was about his read of tatara too. but he lets the weird look roll off of him; multiple times to multiple people has he said that he's not interested in herding cats or trying to guide people to act in a specific way.

(that said, he does take note of the map and tome as they appear. ah, now doesn't this bring back memories...) ]

In a very remote and isolated stretch of the north. [ he'll point out... the approximate location of wherever it was on the map tatara's got. ] It wasn't close to any settlements in particular, if that's what you're asking.

And it was just me at first, for the record. I brought Ithaqua with me on a separate trip after to see if he might catch anything that I didn't.

Correct, and I did. I found it primarily because I was searching for something that was similar to what could be felt at the cleanup site in the east. Though, the fact that the majority of the displaced monsters in the north seemed to be avoiding the area helped in that regard.

[ how to find a source of sus: go where the monsters aren't. ]

But an impact crater like that had to have been created by something. That I could not find what was responsible at the bottom means that someone likely removed it.

Given what's recently happened in the East, I think it's understandable for me to harbor concerns about what that might imply.

I don't think information travels very well up there, but I could be wrong. In any case, there weren't any towns located conveniently nearby to ask for details from.

... You'd have a better read of the politics than a decent number of us here, I'd imagine. [ because he's been here longer, for one thing. ] Do you think there'd be benefit to it, or do you think it'd simply be a blow to the uneasy peace that exists between, for example, the West and Central countries?

[ those two mentioned because from what he's gleaned, they have the roughest relationship with each other out of the nations in this world. ]

[ listen he knows exactly how off it sounds given (gestures at tatara) but. tatara actually talks to the country reps and everyone on the ground regularly. the rest of them not so much.

besides, he's known a couple of of not so formal heads of state. congrats, little sage... ]

Considering the crater left behind, I imagine it must have been something that fell from afar.

[ such as ... the moon, perhaps. ]

Given that it would apparently not be the first of its kind, considering what some of the previous groups have relayed, and the fact that the feeling of the lingering magic is similar to the cleanup site in the east, it's probably safe to say it was yet another moonstone. Or something related, at the very least.

And given what messes the other incidents caused by them have appeared to be ... Well, if we don't find it, then I imagine it will make itself known to us somehow, eventually.

[ and how. ]
