I've been curious about what your version of Japan is like, actually. I know someone who came from a Japan with nothing left. Mine is the opposite of that...so what's yours?

[There's definitely a surprised blink at the part about a Japan with nothing left, but it shifts easily to something a little more considering at the question.]

It's kind of hard to describe it without knowing what your Japan is like, but I suppose I'd call it normal? We have idol groups like yours, and there are computers and cell phones... But one thing that seems to be different is that the year is 1999 for me.

[Of course, there's also some of that other... stuff that's been going on, but she'll pause on mentioning that until she figures out where his frame of reference is. There's plenty of people even in her own Japan that don't know what's going on behind the scenes, after all.]

1999? That's over a decade before my time. The year's 2016 in mine.

I'd say my Japan is similar, then. Things like magic, vampires, powers – none of those exist where I'm from. It's really ordinary, actually.

You asked about the guns earlier, right? That's why. I didn't really mean to hide it, but most people back home don't know that demons actually exist.

[I'm gonna be perfectly honest, P2 never explains how the party can fight zombie DJs or whatever in the middle of a music store and not have people run away screaming about demons, but the city also isn't in an uproar about it, so!!]

I think anyone can see demons, but we don't usually go out of our way to hunt them. Most don't seem to attack ordinary people, so it's not as dangerous for the general populace as it sounds. It's also easier to negotiate with them than you'd think.

Negotiate? Huh, that's interesting. You come from a very interesting version of Japan.

Ahahaha... Well, it only started to get this interesting a little while ago, actually. If you asked me the same question a few weeks ago, I think I would've said the same thing you did.

[Plus or minus a couple of things of course, but overall it was an ordinary world she'd been living in.]

But now I'm wondering if your version of the future's different from the one I've heard about already. Got any flying cars yet?

No flying cars. Nothing like that. If you think the cleaning robot's advanced technology, I'd say that's one of the better things we've developed in recent years. That, and computers.

Computers, huh... I only use mine for work, so I'd rather get a Musashi Mk. 2. Oh, and a better stereo system, if those have improved too.

Probably. Stereos come with pretty deep bass adjustments now. People seem to like that.

When we first started practicing magic, I actually tried to see if I could do the same things I could back home. But since it didn't work, I'll probably have to build it up from scratch again.

I think that's something to be glad about, honestly. I've gotten used to it by now, but I was pretty surprised when I had my first run-in with a demon! I was also lucky that one of my friends was with me at the time and recognized what we were looking at.

I can imagine, especially if your life was ordinary up until that point. All of this has been a lot to take in as is, so I guess it's the closest thing I have to what you went through back then.

Well, it's not like I had stopped living the life I had before. I still went into the office, did my errands... at least, up until I arrived here.

But if I had to pick an answer, I'd say no. A lot has happened since then... Even if not all of it has been good, I wouldn't trade those memories for the world.
