[Anyways, that sure was a mess! Once Mika's stable and people have started to disperse from the courtyard, Maya will make her way over to Khun's room. The last she saw of him was when Kurapika was separating him from Ginger, so realistically speaking she doesn't even know if he's back at his room or not. Nevertheless, she figures it's worth a try--broken ribs are nothing to scoff at, so she's assuming he wouldn't be keen on running around the manor unless absolutely necessary.
So there's a couple of knocks at his door, once she gets there.]
[ The door opens somewhat quickly though not exactly speedy, which probably isn't a surprise given his injuries. He honestly wasn't expecting many visitors besides perhaps one, but that doesn't stop him from greeting her with a smile like this is any other night. ]
Of course. I want Ginger to be able to find me. [ He waves her in like that was a completely normal thing to say. The style of his room is minimalistic, with a bed, a desk, two chairs, and a small table that has dried flowers on it.
In the time since the Disaster he's washed up and changed into a loose t-shirt and shorts, the most casual wear she's ever seen on him. His hair is up in a simple low ponytail, swept away from his face. ]
[It's nice to see he's washed up because god knows how this would've went if he opened the door with a bunch of drying blood still on him. The fact that he's even gotten himself changed is a good sign and maybe an indicator that the broken ribs are maybe not so bad?? Maybe???
But more surprising than his casual appearance is that remark.]
Huh!? But he just attacked you!
[It's less that she actually blames Ginger for attacking Khun and more that she's incredulous that he got his ribs broken just a little while ago but still wants to continue their fight. These teenagers really can't stop getting themselves into messes huh.]
Even if that's normal to you, I don't think that's something you should invite...
[No matter how strong, how swift, how shrewd one person is, they always had their limits. And unlike Mika's case, it was clear that Khun's actions had been his own--the main question was whether people would be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. That would probably depend on his reasons, which she was still mulling about even now.
But first things first. She doesn't miss the way he sits on that chair, and while it's not obvious by any means, she's definitely more attentive to his movements given what she knows.]
Anyways, let's have a look at your chest. It's probably still tender, right?
[That expression answers her question well enough, so she won't press on that, especially since he's tossed one of his own. Realistically, there's probably others in the courtyard who might even ask the same thing. And while there's a lot of answers she could give, it really just comes down to this:]
...Because I don't want anyone to get hurt if we can avoid it.
That doesn't necessarily mean I expect everyone to get along, either. Butting heads every now and then is to be expected when we all come from different places and backgrounds... But I'd still prefer it if we could all live together peacefully while we're here.
[ it's an answer he's heard before and one he wouldn't have accepted not too long ago. taking handouts from people means that there's some sort of payback involved, explicit or not. or at least that's what his instincts tell him with how he was raised.
but he's come some way since then and it helps that it's a generic "anyone". less personal is better, easier to understand. rather than answer her he stands up and carefully slips his shirt off. his chest is already wrapped quite well, though judging by the way it's been done it's something he's done himself and has experience with. his obvious injuries and black and blue skin aside, he's also very much in shape. ]
At least you used an "if" there. [ there's no avoiding pain and hurt, even in the most lofty of dreams. ]
[Seeing fresh injuries isn't new to her, but that still doesn't make it a pleasant sight. Anyways, she'll start on a healing spell, murmuring her incantation and directing it to fixing up whatever fractures are running through his ribs before focusing on the bruising. If nothing else, assisting with a traumatic amputation has given her a boost in confidence when healing with this world's brand of magic, so it shouldn't be an uncomfortable sensation.
As she heals, she'll make a quiet hum at his statement.]
That doesn't mean I've given up on trying. But I'm not going to pretend that today didn't happen... And we've still got a ways to go before we figure out how we can solve the problem of the missing sage and wizards.
I'm not opposed to teammwork. [ he's used to it actually, but he doesn't say as much. at least he's a compliant patient, not making any sudden movements so she can focus on healing him to the rest of his ability. ]
But I'm not going to just let someone read my mind.
[Huh. She was prepared to hear that Mika had somehow lost control and attacked Khun, but this wasn't what she was expecting. It didn't even really occur to her to use magic like that, despite how useful that would be for someone in her occupation. But she can understand a little more about why he said what he did in the courtyard, even if she she can't agree about it being a reason to kill someone.]
So you attacked him because you wanted to make him stop?
That's one way to look at it. [ it's not entirely incorrect, but if he just wanted him to stop he could have asked or just resorted to something physical that he wasn't intending to be lethal.
he could say as much, but he's in a mercurial mood, so he opts for something else rather than stating it out right. ]
Do you know what my spellword means? [ she's definitely heard it, impero, if not tonight at other times during their stay here. ]
[That's rather straightforward, all things considered. Does it explain why mind-reading specifically set him off? Yes and no. It still feels like she's missing some pieces of the puzzle, given that the sensation of losing control can be felt in a number of ways.]
Then what about our current situation...? It's not like you were given a choice to come here, were you?
[He hasn't done anything yet, so she figures he's not just going to suddenly snap and stab Tatara or what have you, but it still seems worth asking.]
Obviously I had no control over that either, but it's not like I could do anything about it back then.
[ was he pissed off initially? yeah. but he's not stupid enough to suicide mission when he knows nothing about the situation and faces 0% of success. ]
[That also aligns with the fact that he didn't continue to try and attack Mika once a bunch of them showed up on scene. It's not ideal that he jumped straight into a murder attempt in the first place, but the pragmatism she can work with.]
And you're not planning on doing anything about it now either, right?
[That reaction… comes off as oddly bashful considering his usual demeanor. Teenage boy reasons aren’t the first things that come to mind, but something is definitely up here, that’s for sure.]
Hey… Did something happen between the two of you?
[Her tone is concerned but distinctly less in the ‘and are you gonna stab him’ way and more along the lines of ‘are y’all okay’.]
[ that's not what she asked but that's how he chooses to answer!
the something happen being: "yeah we kissed but right now i figure he's not thrilled with me on account of the whole stabbing bit but we'll deal with that later." ]

Khun-san? Are you in?

Impero... Doesn't that mean 'to command'?
[It was the root of words like 'imperious' and 'imperial', so something related to authority certainly lines up with the idea of control.]
no subject
[ it also means he will not suffer a loss of control. to do so goes against his very nature, and as she can see, the result is pretty violent. ]
