[ ah, it's going to be one of those visits. he'll make a point of stretching, then, before setting his pen down pushing his chair out, and getting up to amble over to a seat in front of the hearth as well, whereupon he drapes himself down. ]
I have a full range of motion, no open wounds, and am not suffering from a profuse amount of blood loss, if that's what you're asking.
[ now, why would either of those ever be of any concern? ]
Yes, I did say that, didn't I? A question for you, then, just to double check before I say anything.
You said it was likely that the moonstone causing the disturbance in South country had already been there for a long time, and only recently started causing issues, correct?
That's right. At the very least, it had been there longer than a week. I tried askin' if anyone could recall anythin' unusual happenin' before the whole incident started, but nothin' came to mind.
A similar situation with the North. I've been aware of an odd crater in a remote area of the country for ... it's been several weeks now. About when we were all sent East.
The timelines are odd, though. The moonstone we brought back should be the one that once lay in that crater. But judging from the layer of fresh snow that was there when I first happened upon it, I estimate it must have been moved approximately around when we arrived here... The crater itself, though, appeared to be significantly older.
[ another one for the moon rock apparently minded its own business until recently group. ]
Huh... So you mean that whatever's being done with the moonstones is related to whatever led to the original wizards disappearing? [ And them being summoned as a consequence of that. ]
I don't know that I could confidently make that conclusion yet. But we've seen a trend, haven't we?
[ they've a lot of pieces, but whatever picture they're assembling... ]
When a moonstone is purified, something is released.
[ and if those things happen to be the quintessences of the original wizards ... well, then the question becomes who, exactly, was it that managed to seal them all away, regardless of location?
Ain't that the truth. Maybe Tatara knows somethin' 'bout the previous wizards so we can look for other leads, too. [ Instead of relying on word of mouth in a place like the City of Rain. ]
Admittedly, I would like to know what is being done to the moonstones as well, especially by whom. There's a conspicuous fragment missing from the one retrieved from the north. As well as ...
The native creatures avoided the area. [ and whatever happened there is probably the reason for why the northern ecosystem and habitats are so messed up at current. ] I highly doubt one simply happened to ingest the stone of its own accord, then somehow remain relatively stable for approximately the next two months before finally succumbing to whatever corruption or degeneration the moon's curse causes.
[ it's possible, of course, but... tsk. too many unknowns. the way he sees it, though, it's just as possible that someone was having fun playing mad scientist as it was for some maddened creature to try to keep devouring others and fusing them into itself to stave off the inevitable. ]
Apparently, the one in Central had been in a vault for gods know how long too. Then it acted up and they had to fight through a horde of ghosts to get to it.
[ Hmmm... ]
The Southern incident was just an incredibly unfortunate accident, I'm pretty sure, but we know someone must've helped Collodi get the stones for his creations. I just can't figure out what this unknown party or parties are tryin' to accomplish messin' around chunks of a world-ending calamity.
I wonder, if we could somehow track back when they all apparently started acting up after apparently having lain inert for so long ... Would it have been at the same time?
[ though it seems hard to tell, with east ... mainly because the incident there was because of someone having scavenged material from the affected site.
perhaps the initial explosion to create the gouge, then...? hmm. ]
Given how distressed everyone has been about the wizards' disappearances, obviously this isn't exactly normal, expected cursed moon phenomena. But then we get into how and who, once again.
[ and why, but who knows. maybe there's a moon-poisoned doomsday cult in this world. ]
You think you can get info out from the people in charge over at Central or East? [ Especially since both authorities seem rather distrustful of wizards. ]
I only managed to talk to a Southern rep durin' the ball, but I don't imagine a lot of the reps there exactly thought highly of us...
The northern representatives were terrified of us, at the very least. [ wow wonder why!!! ] We'll see if our actions the other day alleviated that any, or if it just magnified the awe they hold us in.
[ but he'll just wave a hand dismissively, leaning back in his seat as he does. ]
But don't worry: it was more of a hypothetical than anything. [ just thinking out loud, in other words. ] In the end, I don't know exactly how much value there would be in confirming that or not, and the odds of us actually managing to get worthwhile information out of them are as unlikely as you say. Per Ithaqua, Tatara seems to trust those at the castle, but...
[ the castle, which has been relatively on guard even if they've now reopened their doors to visitors... ]
In theory, we could disguise ourselves. We have the means to do it. The question then becomes what sort of persona would actually net us anything of use.
[ because for some strange reason, somehow he doubts these officials would be likely to spill to a complete rando. hmm. one wonders if the sorts of tactics aversa would be more likely to use would be more fruitful, but that is quite the commitment to a stray thought he hasn't even quite properly developed. ]

[ Somehow he doubts Robin will want to answer questions about mental and/or emotional well-being, so he'll get to the other reason he came to visit. ]
You said there was other stuff to discuss when you ain't all covered in blood?

[ ...Wait. ]
Did anyone think to check for news 'bout the Eastern wizards? Then again, the Easterners seem like the type to keep things quiet if they can, too.
no subject
... if there's been news about the Eastern wizards, I haven't been aware of it.
[ but also, he hasn't been east all that much since they all got called north,
HEY EAST WIZARDS HAVE YOU HEARD OF ANY NEW HOT GOSS... ]

Wait, trick question, most of them aren't of the disposition or desire to keep track of this sort of thing except maybe Yamato, if you asked Day. ]
