Well… You just feel - less tethered today, if that makes sense.

[ Does it make sense? He doesn’t know how to explain it. Day just seemed… lighter. Maybe it’s because Ginger got to see some new smiles from him…? ]

[ Oh. Is that how he comes off, despite the fact he's here because people got hurt? ...He's not sure how to feel about that. ]

Huh. Maybe it's 'cause I'm chatting with a friend. [ And he's not saying this to be smooth or anything, it's just an observation that came to mind. ]

[ He nods. Makes sense!

Wait… Day’s words catch up to his brain… ]

Me?? We’re friends?? Oh -

[ It’s that soft happy feeling again, like all the flowers are in bloom. ]

Wow…

[ That brings his list of friends to almost a handful. ]

[ See, this is what he means about Ginger acting cute, damn. ]

[ One whole friend before arriving here. The rest were coworkers - and his parents. And granted, it’s Ginger’s own fault.

[ "I didn’t think I wanted more." gives Day pause, for the briefest of moments. To him, it sounds rather lonely, though perhaps he isn't one to talk when it's debatable whether he had many friends before he moved to the city either. ]

[ Soft: ]

Why the different attitude now? Ginger doesn’t really know. Maybe it’s because Rum’s not here and Ginger has nothing to be possessive of. And Ginger… he needs something. There’s an itch in him that - needs.

… Is it okay to let Day be a part of that? Maybe he should warn him… ]

But - you can’t take it back.

[ Day, who doesn't quite realise what exactly he's agreeing to: ]

I ain't plannin' on it.

[ Not of his own will, anyway. He still doesn't know what an angel is, but... Once all is said and done, time and distance will wear on, even if by some chance Ginger could remember him. ]

[ He’s going to feel guilty if he doesn’t at least elaborate a little more. ]

I’m… half-demon, you know? You really can’t take it back. You have to be sure.

[ A pause, like he's trying to reconcile what he's seeing right now with what he knows about demons, and it's going...somewhere (nowhere). Ginger's so different from what he does know about demons back home; things so far outside the realm of mortal comprehension and sensibility that any meeting between the two tends to end in disaster. ]

...All I can say is you're pretty different from the demons back home?

[ He - doesn’t know what to say to that? Isn’t Day missing the point here… ]

[ He is missing the point because he's not entirely sure what Ginger being a half-demon has to do with this. Now that Ginger's brought it up though, it starts to sink in that Ginger isn't the least bit mortal. That means...

...It's such a selfish thing of him to want to ask, but he still does. ]

[ Being called benign when his wants are malignant things that spread and spread… ]

[ From his heart to his mind to his dreams. Not nightmares, not a corruption because it all comes from him. It’s all him.

A demon’s nature, an angel’s sensibility. ]

What part of you could be forgettable?

[ Day has a different idea of malignant: desires and obsessions that are inherently harmful or hostile, no matter the intent. Nothing about Ginegr strikes him at that. ]

You'd be surprised. [ That's all he'll say. He just smiles wryly otherwise. Maybe one day Ginger will forget him, even if it's in a distant future, because there's always an ending, but...

...Until then, it's good enough. The reassurance that "Joyous Day" will live on in someone's memory a little longer, if nothing else. He won't hope for anything else yet. A little selfishness could do everyone some good. ]

[ Ginger… doesn’t want to hurt anyone with his feelings. He’d rather be the only one who has to deal with this. Even if he wishes someone could understand his heart.

In the moment, he’s not thinking that. He smiles instead at Day; that sounds like a promise. ]

Well, you know what? It’s too late anyway. I’m holding this grudge forever, and I won’t ever forget that.

[ Which will probably end soon as there’s only a new more hours left before dawn. ]
