wizardmanor | Floor 2 Room 5

[ One evening, Kiryu will hear a quiet knocking at his door, and should he answer, outside will be the ever-nervous Bruno. He's lacking in his usual green ruana since, uh, he still needs to get the remnants of all that blood out, but what he does have is a bottle of wine and two glasses in hand. ]

[Takes only one look at Bruno holding wine and glasses for Kiryu to understand! He opens the door, sees all that, and fully opens the door so Bruno comes into the room!

Kiryu's room is...pretty impersonal. Looks more like a hotel suite than someone's bedroom -- it has been a long time since Kiryu had a place to call his own and therefore he's seeing this more as a place to be at for a while, instead of as 'his room'.

But hey, at least they can be comfortable, to the coffee table!]

I can hardly say no to a drink. Welcome, Bruno.

[ Oh, immediate entrance. Okay. Let's see if Bruno remembers how a totally normal social call works. He steps in and gives the room a curious lookover. ]

Not much for decorating, huh? [ Not that he means anything by it. It's an idle comment as he follows Kiryu over to the coffee table. There, he sets the bottle and glasses down. ] Uh, I hope wine is alright? I would have brought something stronger but I'm not sure where you can get it in the city yet.

I put a rock here and there. That counts as decorating, no?

[...no, Kiryu. They don't. Yeah, they're magical rocks that glow, but also no]

It's fine, good wine helps. Besides when it comes to booze the company is the important part.

[That's what he appreciates most, really! And in his opinion, Bruno is good company]

Hmm, I guess? Not like I can say much, my room's gonna be a mess until I sort it out.

[ It's full of half-finished mazes for his rat. That's very normal. ]

You're right about the company, though. [ Here's hoping he doesn't act like too much of a weirdo and ruin it! ] Anyway, I just. I wanted to drop by and say thanks for everything you did back there, with, y'know, the ghost.

Will it ever be sorted out?

[Because Bruno saying that reminds Kiryu of the times when he used to live alone in a small apartment. Kiryu is pretty sure he said similar things and yet always procrastinated in sorting out the mess, haha]

I'll accept the thanks as long as you also admit you did well. It's only fair.

[Kiryu strongarming his way into complimenting Bruno on that! Because he figures that'll be the easiest way to have Bruno accept it -- to tie it into Kiryu accepting the thanks as well.

...also partly because Kiryu also has had a hard time accepting it when others do]

That's a very good question.

[ It's not as though his little hovel between the walls back home was ever particularly tidy, either. Ah, but... it would appear his gratitude comes with a pre-requisite. Well then.

That does cause him to pause awkwardly in taking a seat at the table but, eventually, ]

O-oh. Uh. Sure? I. Yeah, I guess I. I did do well. Too.

That's better.

[Kiryu smiles a little]

You got plenty to be proud about. Try to keep that in mind.

[At least in Kiryu's opinion! He's pretty sure Bruno is a good man and considers him hardworking. Kiryu's track record on judging people's personalities is pretty bad, truthfully, but hey, he wants to think the best of Bruno]

I'm not saying that only so I get plenty of wine.

[The 'only' is a joke. He can make jokes]

I'll... try. I mean, people keep telling me that. So. Y'know.

[ Maybe he should start believing them. ]

It's weird, that's all.

[ But he came here to have some wine with Kiryu, not bemoan his past, so he pops that bottle open and gets to pouring them both a glass. ]

[Kiryu takes a glass, raising it in a toast]

To the old guys of this place.

[By now he's convinced the number of old people is far higher than it seemed at first, because, you know, young people turn out to be centuries old. For all he knows, say, Akira is like seven hundred fifty years old]

[ Someone really needs to inform Bruno of all the super ancient people around here. He's still thinking it's them and probably Yodarha, geez. Anyway, he, too, raises his glass. ]

Ha, yeah, to the old guys. Here's hoping we don't get driven mad by all the kids here.

[Kiryu wastes no time to drink his glass of wine, approving]

It's good, nya.

[He puts the glass down]>/small>

Kids are supposed to drive their elders crazy, nya. That's how--

[.......Oh. Kiryu is just noticing what's happening to him now]

[ Similarly, Bruno sips his wine, and isn't sure what he heard that first time Kiryu says it but the second? Yeah, he's noticing now. ]

Uh, everything alright there, nya?

[ ...wait... ]

[Turns out a secondary effect of the wine also is that it breaks my HTML, wow, how did I miss that mess]

...Bruno, did you know this would happen?

[Well, that Bruno drank it too kind of hints no, but hey, who knows, maybe Bruno is a jokester who wanted to do this. Not that it's a big deal, it's not like Kiryu is upset]

Wh-what?!

[ Oh no, does he seem that suspicious?! He gives his glass of wine a startled look before returning his gaze to Kiryu. ]

I would... I would nya-ever have brought this if I knew!

[ God, nya-ever? Seriously? That's terrible. ]

Relax, nya. You never know if someone is the pranking type, nya.

[Waste not want not, so Kiryu keeps drinking!]

I was unaware it could cause wordplay too, nya. I'll have to watch out, nya.

[He got odd looks when he was just saying 'nya', if he begins making puns everyone hearing them will be like a deer in the headlights!]

[ Yyyeah, looking towards a certain wedding for a certain sister. Terrible. ]

[Kiryu is thinking of someone not being amused at Bruno for some joke he said, but he certainly doesn't suspect the extent of the mayhem that actually happened, golly]

Mmmhm, something like that, nya. I, uh. I cracked a joke about it raining on my sister's wedding day and she... freaked out about it? And. May have caused a... a hurricane. Nya.

[ the nyas do not make that sound any better ]

...so you're not the only one with magic, where you're from? A hurricanya doesn't happen for no reason.

[Caused a hurricane, sans pun...then it means Bruno's family are very magical, apparently]

Yeahhh. Everyone in my family except... mom and my youngest niece has something they can do. Pepa can, uh, well, she can control the weather, but it reacts to her feelings, nya? So, as you can imagine, prophet brother joking about it looking like rain, and then...

[ He gestures off into the air as if to indicate the sky with his wine glass and then drinks from it, heavily. God, that was A Day. ]

I don't think it's your fault that much. Sounded like a harmless joke to me.

[Kiryu says this only because he knows absolutely nothing about how nervous a bride would be on a wedding day, geez]

I thought so, too, but clearly not.

[ Harm did indeed occur. ]

It's... more about perception? People are, well. I give out a lot of bad prophecies and Pepa was already super nervous...

[Kiryu's tone is calm, patient. Definitely the tone of someone used to hearing others talk about their problems, past and present.

In a way, this is his main way of bonding with others these days -- having booze in the company of friends and listening to them]

Oh, I tried, nya. I.... super tried... nya...

[ Man, that's such a sad-sounding nya. ]

But she was so mad after the hurricane calmed down and... well...

[ That next 'nya' is a sigh. Kiryu can probably imagine how poorly it all went over. ]
