[The dice really favored Kiryu when it was fighting time. The dice just wanting to have Kiryu be as in-character as possible at such times, hah]

Are you looking forward to a dangerous mission?

[Or would you prefer it to be nice and mellow? What kind of person are you, Khun? So many out there want danger and adrenaline!]

An interesting mission is better than a boring one, but I'm not the type to chase danger just because.

At this point carrying a weapon with you into those missions is a good idea. Got experience with one?

That's not the kind of thing one can forget, so no.

I can hold my own in pretty much any kind of fight. If you'd like a real opponent, we should spar sometime. I don't mind going bare handed.

[Kiryu is no stranger to weapons in fighting, that's for sure. All kind of things. For some reason a cannon is one of the potential weaponry one can get in the first couple games, haha]

I'd like that. Hitting ghosts and shadows doesn't feel right.

[Hitting Khun will have to do -- it's undeniable Khun has a certain level of skill and can hold his own, after all! Perhaps it really will work after all]

Hitting someone who can fight back well is more satisfying.

[There are better ways to put it, Kiryu, geez. But hey, it sure makes clear Kiryu is open to sparring anytime. Much to his chagrin, he's always yearning for a good fight]

Heh. So for the start you'd try to wear me down by having me catch you?

I could. But I can trade blows just fine, I'm far from a lightweight. [ he actually is athletically toned and not just anime toned, something kiryu would have seen in the bath. ]

You're the direct type, I take it?

There's no point in meandering.

[So yes, he's direct! Formerly to a fault because he used to be reckless in his directness, but he still is pretty direct in many ways]

Agreed. Then 7am tomorrow? Or do you need more time to rest after the mission?

The courtyard will do, in ten minutes.

[And, having said that, Kiryu goes to wait over there. It's kind of funny that he does this cool badass guy routine without even realizing -- it's not that even that he does it on purpose, it just comes so natural it's funny. No wonder he's got a reputation for looking broody and distant]

Weapons or no weapons?

I myself fight without weapons, but you have one if you want to. It'd be nothing new for me.

[Even in friendly fights. Kiryu already showed with the possessed Akira a butcher knife and the such being held by an opponent doesn't bother him, so he's more than alright if he's against someone who wants to shank him]

I don't need it and it'd probably make Tatara upset anyway. [ and he cares about that, so.

khun shakes out his shoulders and ties his hair up in preparation. ]

You have any terms? Or are we going until one of us says stop?

We go until one of us had enough. No healing yourself allowed.

[Kiryu can't believe he has to add a caveat about healing magic but that's the kind of place they're in, one where healing magic is plausible]

Alright. But remember to tell anyone who asks about your bruises that it was a friendly spar. I don't need another parade of people at my door making puppy dog eyes at me.

[He wastes no time getting in position, ready to clash with Khun!

The rolls of 7 + 13 + 18 are pretty good! Kiryu manages to defend himself at first, but the more they spar, the bigger an advantage Kiryu gets, he understanding what kind of fighter Khun is. Turning the tides, until he starts overcoming Khun and gaining an edge!

[ and khun rolls a bit short of that, totally to 31. it's not the worst showing for him by any means, but the cockiness of youth versus the wisdom of age sometimes works out that way.

he wipes a small trickle of blood from his mouth onto his fist, grin wry. ]

With a hook like that, you might even be able to join one of the Ten Families. [ it's a genuine compliment, even if he won't explain himself.

also he's definitely going to be sore tomorrow and he can feel the bruises forming, but he had a good time. ]

But, I guess this is proof I really should practice hand to hand more.

[Kiryu isn't reacting much to the soreness he obviously feels but that's because when isn't he putting the tough guy stance, really]

You're good anyway. Took me a while to figure out how to do this right. That tired me out.

I've been training since I was a kid, though weapons we're the focus not bare handed.

[What kind of weaponry, Khun? Truthfully, Kiryu briefly considers telling Khun next time Kiryu would like to face him with weapons, but also realizes he probably shouldn't be telling people 'hey let me fight you while you have lethal weaponry'...more than once, at least, he already did one time to Khun]
