[ It's when they come back that Tatara realizes he owes his Uncle Kiryu something very important.

So knock, knock! Open up, his hands are full! ]

But yeah, Kiryu opens the door. Hello, Tatara! What brings you here?]

[ help yes all the books are for him—

There's a tray in Tatara's hands. There are two coffee cups, one with a carefully rendered cartoony chicken in foam on top, and a plate of golden brown karaage. ]

Hi, Uncle Kiryu! [ Beams! He holds up the tray. ] I brought stuff for you! Can I come in?

[Oh, that's cute! Someone's foam art has gotten better! Kiryu steps aside]

Come in.

[His hotel-like suite is as fine as ever! And impersonal, leaving aside the collection of random things he has lying around on things like the kitchenette counter and all. Someone really hasn't made himself feel like home, and probably never will, really, but hey, at least it's comfortable!]

[ You know, nothing wrong with a sparse room. At least Kiryu has a bed and actual personal items on his kitchenette counter... You know, instead of nothing else but a rug, a backscratcher, and a roomba.

Tatara himself makes no comment, though. He waltzes in and places the tray of food and coffee on the first open space he sees, and then jazz hands at the lattes to Kiryu. ]

I worked really hard on making you a chicken! [ He grins! ] And then I made you real chicken! Though I don't know if coffee and fried chicken really go together.

[ Belated afterthought... oh well? ]

It'll go together.

[He's not sure of that but also it'd be so rude to say to Tatara otherwise. The guy worked hard to set this up, and Kiryu won't stomp over that effort. He takes the cup with the chicken foam, turning it over in his hands to take a good look]

This is nicely made. How long did it take you to perfect this?

[ Tatara wouldn't be particularly offended, but he appreciates the faith Kiryu has in his latte-fried chicken combo anyway! Who knows, maybe it'll be better than he thinks? ]

Wow, I'm glad you think so! [ Approval! Yay! ] I kept practicing after I saw you in the kitchen, maybe for another couple of weeks? I wasn't really happy with the end result at that point, but I got busy. [ Khun happened. ]

But I practiced when I had the time! Whaddya think? Looks like a chicken, huh?

It does. Almost makes me feel bad it'll have to be ruined.

[You know how good-looking food makes you feel pity for it, somehow? That's the kind of feeling he has right now, haha]

But if you let it sit too long, it'll disintegrate anyway!

[ He's tried to "keep" them already. Is he pouting? No! ]

I'd rather you destroy the chicken, Uncle. It's meant for you!

Right.

[And destroyed it is. Kiryu enjoys his foamy coffee, the chicken soon gone. Well, Tatara probably will be able to make more in the future. It's not like making he'd just make it once and never again!]

It's good. Good job, Sage.

[Genuine compliment! A success]

[ Tatara's in the middle of destroying his own chicken foam latte when Kiryu speaks up, and he lifts his head. There's some foam giving him a little mustache. ]

You like it? [ He beams! ] Yay! I'm glad!

[ He pumps a fist because he is so pleased with himself... He busted his ass for this foam art chicken. ]

Now we celebrate. [ He plucks a piece of fried chicken from the plate and holds it up. ] With real chicken!

[Kiryu already is biting into his friend chicken. This is pretty nice!]

Did you ever tell me why you wanted to get into foam art so badly?

[Was it something you were always interested in, Tatara? Or did something happen around here in this world that made you really interested in that?]

I don't think I did.

[ He looks at the collapsing chicken in his drink and decides to obliterate the rest by taking another sip. ]

Do you know Tsukinaga-kun? Leo? He's on the first floor, West Country. [ He looks to see if there's any recognition in Kiryu's eyes. Regardless, he'll keep talking. ] He told me about it right after we first got here. I didn't know you could do that with foam and coffee, so I wanted to master it for myself!

That's all. It isn't really a deep reason.

Personal satisfaction is one of the most important reasons one can have.

[It's not deep but it's important]

[ Nods! And he's pretty satisfied with how it all turned out. ]
