[That response...Kiryu would say Cid has a lot of imagination, but...]
Why can't I rule out that the wizards that got lost might be in the prehistory.
[He just mutters that, shaking his head. Kiryu is pretty sure if he goes to the prehistory he'll end up having to punch a dinosaur. He has a track record of having to fight ferocious animals]
[His imagination is a whole clusterfuck but it's useful..... maybe...... sometimes. Is it useful on this occasion?? Well.
Cid examines the buttons and panels some more, but you really can't glean much just from what's on there. It's like playing a whole location gacha at this point; Cid has in fact probably punched a dinosaur before, since we're talking about canons with dinosaurs. ☆ Still, he's not entirely sure what to expect and that's part of the fun.
He glances back at Kiryu still wall-leaning with all the understated gusto in the world. This guy is great. They should make him an elevator bouncer.]
Well, from the sounds of it, they lost a lot of wizards and stuff. Unless they didn't want to be found, they're probably super lost. So I think looking in unconventional places is the way to go!
[It's definitely not just because he wants to see weird places. The elevator dings again, welcoming them to the Cave of Time with a murmur that isn't entirely the hydraulics.]
[Kiryu steps out of the elevator. Looks like this is it -- he already has decided he's going to have to play bodyguard here. Nothing he hasn't done before! Although if this turns out more magical in nature than physical, he'll be less useful than normal]
Just a quick look and we go back. If two more wizards get lost we won't live that down.
[This world will have some serious egg in its face if it brought two new wizards only to see them prance into serious trouble less than a week after arrival]
[Cid obligingly steps out after him, not even bothering to try and keep up -- hey, if the bruiser decides he wants to be the tank, who is he to stop him?? This really does feel like stepping into a dungeon: the change in the air, the soft buzz of some kind of magic, and the far-off mutter of maybe-voices that makes him perk up his ears.
There's definitely something here. Maybe more than one something. Maybe several someones.
Once he ascertains that much, he cheerfully makes a show of hiding behind Kiryu.]
A quick look for sure! I just want to get the lay of the land, and then maybe come back later once we're a bit more wizard-y.
[Even if this were the right place, there's a right time and opportunity. Quite aside from needing more time to work on his magic, he needs a plan to do things in a more dramatic fashion. That's the most important part.]
[He's used to tanking, hah. Used to receive punches and the such without flinching...during cutscenes. You know how it is, characters are so much more powerful at times and so much weaker at others when it's a cutscene, haha.
He does walk out first becausewhat kind of person would he be if he let Cid be the one leaping into danger without at least trying to be in the lead to protect?]
What do you know about this place?
[There's a small spark of hope that Cid didn't just think ten seconds ago to come here. That Cid heard about this place before and that's why he came here in the elevator]
