[He notices, naturally, when Kurapika returns. The window may not be open, but there's a light that hadn't been there for the duration of his absence, not that Ahito's been checking particularly religiously.
Still, he's back, and that's always worth checking out. Which is why, the evening of his return, Kurapika will hear a soft knock on the window from a certain broom-bound teen.]
[ It doesn't take long before Kurapika shows up at the window, looking a little more tired than usual. There's a heavy exhaustion about him, carried in his shoulders and the slow way he unlocks the window and pushes it open. ]
[ Shoving his hands into the pockets of his sleep pants, Kurapika shrugs. ]
Their staff was afraid, so they asked us to take care of it. [ ... ] It wasn't anything they would have ever been able to manage on their own, honestly. The ghosts were tough... Akira and I weren't ready for them.
[Is there an extra chair he can steal? He's gonna steal it.
He's also going to untie a bag from his belt and toss it over to Kurapika. Catch! It's pretty easy to tell through the fabric of the sack that there's wizard sugar inside, the same white, gold, and blue from their first job together.]
Kurapika moves to go put the little bag of sugar on his coffee table, but before he can reach it, he drops the bag in favor of bringing both hands up to his head, a strangled sort of sound escaping him as he's hit with a wave of intense pain. ]
[ Ah. The distinct feeling of Ahito readying a spell.
Kurapika sits back despite the pain in his head and holds up his hands. They were just discussing ghosts, and so he can't blame Ahito for jumping to this conclusion. ]
[ He does, because he'll take whatever Ahito lends him so he can actually get around. Kurapika may be used to his own room, but he doesn't know it well enough to navigate it while he can't see at all. ]
[ He climbs onto his bed in a clumsy fashion, grasping at the sheets for purchase before finally plopping down. It's unlike him to do so, but this is a new situation entirely. ]
I felt... something break inside of me, and this sharp pain all through my arm. Then, I felt normal again.
[ And that was the most disconcerting part of it all. ]
[It's so disconcerting to see Kurapika move so gracelessly, having seen plenty of him before both in combat and out.
...Extremely concerning, too.]
Break...?
[He'll remove his shades to take a closer look, but even with them on he could tell Kurapika didn't seem physically injured.]
...Just eat that sugar for now.
[Hopefully it helps. They've got an oddly crisp, refreshing flavor; much like Ahito's attempts at healing, there's a soothing quality that would be perfect for washing away the muddled haze that comes with overheating from exertion.]
Post-Central Mission
Still, he's back, and that's always worth checking out. Which is why, the evening of his return, Kurapika will hear a soft knock on the window from a certain broom-bound teen.]

Ahito. It's good to see you.

Hey. Welcome back.
What happened?
no subject
We fought off some ghosts.
[ ... ]
Those don't exist in my world, you know.
[ It was a novel experience for sure. ]
no subject
Really? Even we have ghosts, not that many people encounter them.
Why the sudden ghost hunt?
no subject
Their staff was afraid, so they asked us to take care of it. [ ... ] It wasn't anything they would have ever been able to manage on their own, honestly. The ghosts were tough... Akira and I weren't ready for them.
[ stares at their rolls ]

You'd think some southerners would be better suited for ghosts, given the purification stuff.
no subject
[ He contemplates it for a moment. ]
We were at the Granvelle castle, so that's probably why they brought us.

Think you can bear to tell me what happened?
no subject
He catches the bag, eyes widening slightly when he opens it and sees the sugar. Ah... Ahito really is kind, isn't he? ]
Of course I can. The ghosts weren't exactly scary.
no subject
I meant the part where you look ready to fall asleep on your feet. But if you think you can manage to stay awake a little longer...
no subject
[ Well, for the most part.
Kurapika moves to go put the little bag of sugar on his coffee table, but before he can reach it, he drops the bag in favor of bringing both hands up to his head, a strangled sort of sound escaping him as he's hit with a wave of intense pain. ]

Kurapika...? You okay?
[Looking him over for injuries, but...]
no subject
The entire of Kurapika's eyes, sclera and all, have turned a bright red. ]
I'll be fine...
[ It's more of an assertion for himself than anything else, especially as he reaches out for Ahito for some kind of purpose, but completely misses.
He can't see Ahito at all, much less anything else around him. ]
no subject
Moving back in a hurry, drawing his gun.
He doesn't incant, but the temperature of the room cools rapidly.]

I'm not possessed.
no subject
[The temperature doesn't immediately warm again, but the majority of the chill ceases.]
What hurts?
no subject
[ It's a sharp, pounding sort of pain that makes it hard to stay upright, but he does his best. ]
And... you don't need to apologize.
[ He would do the same. ]
no subject
Storytime can come later. You should lay down.
[Holstering his gun to see if Kurapika needs any help along the way.]
no subject
Something in me changed on that mission.
no subject
[He'll guide Kurapika, gentle - warning him quietly when he reaches the edge of the bed and needs to climb on.]

I'm assuming you guys tried healing?
no subject
Kurapika twists, turning around so that he's on his back. Bringing his hands up to his temples, he starts to rub them. ]
No one else knows.
[ Welcome to the true nature of being friends with Kurapika, Ahito. He never tells anyone anything. ]

...
Do you want me to try?
