[ He can't exactly be modest when Yamato is being sincere. ]

You already got somethin' to eat?

Yeah, I snuck out into the kitchen for a bit.

[ Where, apparently, bread shenanigans happened? ]

But I won't say no to more food. We can eat in here, if you want.

...Well, I haven't eaten anything yet today.

[ "Day did you just forget to eat" Yes but he's not going to say it out loud. ]

[ ??? Day??? ]

Okay, then, you probably need it more than I do.

[ Poor guy. He's probably been stressed. As much as Yamato would like to potato in his room, he's not going to tell the guy to go grab it and come back on his own after everything he's done. So, Yamato gestures towards the door. ]

Come on. We're going to the kitchen.

[ When you've been trying your best to just not have a Normal One sometimes you just forget, okay. He seems a little chagrined, considering Yamato's the one recovering here, but it would be even ruder to decline, so he steps out as indicated. ]

Sorry 'bout this.

It's alright. I can manage.

[ With his good hand, he pats Day's shoulder and starts heading over to the kitchen. ]

Come on. Let's go. Make yourself something nice.

[ "Freeze up" isn't really the right word, but Day's startled when Yamato pats his shoulder, unlike how he'd usually be. Right. He's still here and people know him, right. So he tries to shrug it off, and follows after Yamato.

...Once they're down in the kitchen, Day is just going to use whatever leftover bread there is and make something with jam and butter. ]

You want some?

[ Hm. That's...a reaction and a half. Noted for later. Yamato will go with him and stand next to him while he makes his meal. ]

Sure, I'll have a slice.

[ ...By "later", he means now. ]

You doing okay?

[ He'll pass one over to Yamato, and take a bite out of the one for himself. Kind of chews on it while he's also chewing on the answer to Yamato's question. ]

The ghost left us all a little partin' shot 'fore gettin' stuffed into a bottle. [ Slightly sullen. ]

[ He hears "shot" and the first thing he jumps to is --

nah. Nah, that can't be it. Day isn't injured, so. ]

What do you mean...?

[ ...Oh, right, phrasing. Damn. ]

I dunno, just kinda... [ He makes a vague hand gesture. ] Suddenly reminded us of our worst nightmare? [ Judging from his experience and a couple of the reactions he saw. ]

A worst nightmare...

[ Sheesh, man. That ghost was really not messing around. ]

Do you want to talk about it?

That's why it's a small blessin' you weren't awake for it.

...Not in the kitchen. [ He still has to decide what he wants to tell exactly too. ]

No problem. My room, then.

[ He offers a small smile to Day, though it doesn't quite meet his eyes. They are both tired. ]

[ They're both so tired. Can they go back to having more than one day between incidents?

It'll probably take them a bit before they're both ready to head back up, but once they do Day will wait for the two of them to settle down. He...thinks, he has an idea what to say. ]

[ He'll settle down next to Day, give him time to eat and digest what he wants to say if he needs to. After a bit, though, he'll lightly nudge his arm. ]

Take your time, alright? This stuff is hard to talk about.

Heh, I know. [ This, in particular, isn't easy for Day to talk about with most people. In fact, Yamato is the first mortal he's about to tell this to, which is...honestly kind of terrifying. How is he even supposed to broach this? ]

...What if I told you I work for Heaven?

[ Nailed it. ]

[ For what it's worth, he doesn't get any sort of judgmental expression.

Maybe I shouldn't have opened with that. I mean, I'm guessin' the idea of Heaven exists where you're from? Even if it ain't the same as the one I know. I work for that.

Yeah, of course it does. It's the afterlife, right? ... Are you dead?

Wait, why're you so quick to assume I might be dead? [ HELLO? ] Heaven's just where all the celestial gods stay most of the time.
